Self Defence
For the general public
These courses are designed for people who may not have the time or inclination to train on a regular basis. The course syllabus is based upon dealing with both verbal and physical aggression, street awareness, travel awareness and personal safety issues. The course has a 50 / 50 physical and non physical ratio of training with plenty of time for students to assimilate essential techniques and understand both physical and non physical threats and how to deal with them. The course is split into four sections as follows:
1st lesson: Basic standing, blocking and striking skills.
2nd lesson: Basic locks and holds.
3rd lesson: Basic escapes from grabs, locks and holds.
4th lesson: Combinations of all previous lessons.
Course breakdown
Courses cater for groups between eight and sixteen people
and covers four 1 hour sessions. Minimum age requirements of 14
years for safety reasons as younger children are not permitted to
carry out locks and holds. Included in the course is a full information
pack consisting of a breakdown of each sessions subject material.
There is also a certificate of attendance and 4 free lessons which
can be used at any of the current Goshin Jutsu venues.
Information
Wear loose clothing, suitable footwear, bring a small towel and
a drink. We would also like you to arrive 15mins before the session
is due to begin.
Session breakdown
When you come in you will receive
your literature based on the session about to be taught. Please
read through this information carefully, it will make it easier
for you to follow the session about to be taught and each session
will start with a light warm up to a maximum of 10mins consisting
of the following:
Light stretching
Light cardiovascular exercise
Spot pad striking work
When the warm up is complete, the particular subject for the session will be taught, consisting of solo and pair activities.
Summary
We have carried out many self defence courses,
with good feed back and some clients even starting a Goshin Jutsu
class as a result. The main goal we are trying to achieve thou are
to improve peoples all round awareness. With this new found awareness
we are confident if used correctly it can help you to avoid a serious
confrontation.
