Additional training outdoors

The outdoor courses are a necessary part of the syllabus for for intermediate grades and above. All subjects are approached with more attention given to subjects that are enhanced further by being outdoors such as opening the chakra, meditation for improved technique, attuning to the world around us, intention development, sideline combatant, haragei and others. The course normally lasts around three hours and you are advised to wear loose clothing and sensible shoes/boots that you don’t mind getting dirty.

As mentioned above we like to use all the surroundings on an outdoor course, for example the trees, the river and the beach. We normally train in most conditions except from the obvious ones such as electrical storms and excessive rain storms. The varying conditions are extremely helpful as a training aid with most of the subjects we would be exercising. This is why we try and make an outdoor course available at least once in each of the four seasons.
